Integrated Product Support Engineering Manager
About the Opportunity
The Integrated Product Support Engineering Manager is an experienced IPS practitioner responsible for establishing and governing IPS Engineering functions across strategic shipbuilding programs - specifically Design Interface, Sustaining Engineering, Support Equipment, and Maintenance Planning & Management. The role serves as principal adviser to the Strategic Shipbuilding IPS Manager on IPS Engineering matters, sets enterprise strategy and standards, and leads the IPS Engineering community of practice. Accountable for integrating IPS Engineering disciplines with other IPS Elements, the role drives adoption of proven maintenance and sustainment practices and ensures supportability-by-design for both Mission and Support Systems. The IPS Engineering Manager assures that design decisions driven by IPS Engineering are traceably linked to supportability outcomes and lifecycle sustainment objectives across programs, in accordance with IPS guidance and Australian defence acquisition practices. The role is enterprise-focused, program-supported by an IPS Engineering Lead and team within each shipbuilding program, and reports to the Strategic Shipbuilding IPS Manager.

You’ll Need
Essentials
- Must hold or be eligible to obtain a Baseline Australian Government Security Clearance (must hold Australian Citizenship).
- Degree qualifications in Engineering or related discipline (AQF Level 7+), with demonstrated application to shipbuilding and sustainment.
- 10+ years’ experience in IPS/ILS within complex maritime or land system environments
- 5+ years’ experience in an Engineering Management role.
- ASDEFCON-savvy contracting experience and delivery of IPS artefacts per DEF(AUST)5691/5692/5630 within Australian Defence Acquisition or Sustainment environments
- Proven capability in RCM, LORA, MTA, RAM/Supportability analysis, MRD, and Configuration Management
- Experience developing Maintenance Management Plans and Procedures
- Experience establishing and leading a community of practice and mentoring program.
- Ability to coordinate cross-program resources and stakeholder partnerships
Desirable
- Postgraduate qualifications (AQF Level 8â9) in Systems Engineering, Reliability Engineering,
- Systems Engineering, Human Systems Integration, Logistics/Sustainment. Learning & Development, or Maritime Operations
- Familiarity with S-Series specifications (e.g., S1000D technical publications) and Australian Defence standards (e.g., DEF(AUST) 5630).
- ILS or IPS credentials/training completion
- Experience applying obsolescence management, corrosion prevention/control, and PHM/CBM+ in naval platforms.
- Knowledge of IT Systems Continuous Support and data governance for maintenance and technical data ecosystems.
